Where to store the stuff (a brief poem)

It’s somehow still here even after a hurried thrift store drop-off.
Where to put what’s left of the stuff –
The useful stuff, the important stuff, the cute stuff?
//
With more blankets than square footage,
Creativity is not a recommendation, but a requirement.
Delicately, determinedly, the stuff is placed.
//
Husband’s hobbies tucked tetris style under the bed,
Wife’s sweaters compressed in space saver bags, and the
Sport Utility Vehicle newly, aptly sworn in as the Storage Unit Vehicle.
//
Books crammed into the hand me down bookshelf,
A highly organized puzzle of a closet.
Directed by a wife who maintains encyclopedic knowledge of precise current location of every item in household,
It is all for a couple that aims for momentary minimalism with greater aspirations of home-owning.
//
Because the 1-bedroom apartment is so temporary.
And, the stuff will have a spot in a home soon enough.
//
Until then, that’s where to put what’s left of the stuff –
The useful stuff, the important stuff, the cute stuff.
Where do you tuck away your stuff? Because, if I’m being honest, the wife in this poem is me and she needs more creative storage ideas 😉
